Young Shawn Michaels, whose real name is Michael Shawn Hickenbottom, was born on July 22, 1965, in Chandler, Arizona. He grew up in Texas and started his professional wrestling career in 1984 under the ring name Shawn Michaels.
He initially competed as a tag team wrestler with partner Marty Jannetty, with whom he won the Intercontinental Tag Team Championship. Michaels soon gained popularity for his high-flying moves and charismatic personality, and in 1992 he won his first singles championship, the Intercontinental Championship.
Young Shawn Michaels was known for his flamboyant personality and flashy ring attire, which set him apart from the more reserved wrestlers of his time. He was also notorious for his backstage behavior, which included partying and conflicts with other wrestlers.
Despite his off-screen antics, Michaels became one of the most successful wrestlers of his era, winning multiple championship titles and headlining major pay-per-view events. He retired from wrestling in 2010 and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2011.
